Suprax
Indications for use of the drug Suprax.
Infectious-inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug:
– Sore throat;
– Tonsillitis;
– Sinusitis;
– Acute and chronic bronchitis;
– Otitis media;
– Uncomplicated urinary tract infections;
– Uncomplicated gonorrhea.
Contraindications to the use of the Suprax antibiotic.
– Renal failure with creatinine clearance less than 60 ml / min (for capsules);
– Children up to age 12 years (for capsules);
– Hypersensitivity to penicillins.
Caution in taking Suprax by elderly patients, patients with chronic renal insufficiency or pseudo membranous colitis (history), in the form of granules for suspension – for children up to 6 months.
Method of taking:
For adults and children over 12 years of age weighing over 50 kg the daily dose is 400 mg (one time / day or 200 mg 2 times / day).
For uncomplicated gonorrhea dose is 400 mg for once.
Children aged 6 months to 12 years should take Suprax antibiotic in a suspension in a dose of 8 mg / kg of body weight one time / day or 4 mg / kg every 12 hours.
Duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and set individually. For infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, treatment should be at least 10 days. Renal impairment (with CC 21-60 ml / min) or patients on hemodialysis, the daily dose should be reduced by 25%. If creatinine clearance <= 20 mL / min or in patients on peritoneal dialysis, the daily dose should be reduced by 2 times.
Terms of suspension
Turn the bottle and shake the powder. Add 40 ml cooled to room temperature, boiling water, and stir after each addition until a homogeneous suspension. After that the suspension should be allowed to stand for 5 minutes to fully suspend the powder. Before taking the prepared suspension should be shaken.
