Trecator-SC is an antibiotic used for the treatment of tuberculosis and other conditions as directed.

Trecator-SC
Trecator-SC is isonicotinic acid of thioamides. The structure and antibacterial properties similar to isoniazid, but less active at the same time acts on isoniazid-resistant strains of mycobacteria.
Previously regarded as anti-tuberculosis drug II series. Currently, more than its widely used analog protionamid.
Prescribe for inside and suppository taking. For Adults inside dose is about 0.25 g 3 times a day, if tolerated – 0.25 g 4 times a day, with poor tolerability, patients older than 60 years of age and birth weight less than 50 kg – to 0.25 g 2 times a day.
The drug should be taken after meals.
The daily dose for children – a rate of 0.01 – 0.02 g / kg but not more than 0.75 grams per day.
Trecator-SC antibiotic can be combined with the main anti-TB drugs, if they retained the sensitivity of mycobacteria, as well as with cycloserine or pyrazinamide.
Trecator-S is also used to treat leprosy.
When receiving Trecator-S may experience dyspepsia: poor appetite, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, abdominal pain, diarrhea, loss of body weight. There are also skin rashes such as urticaria, or exfoliative dermatitis. Occasionally there is insomnia, and depression.
To eliminate the side effects of nicotinamide take 0.1 g of 2 – 3 times a day.
Can also be used pyridoxine (1 – 2 ml of 5% solution) intramuscularly. Patients with low acidity of gastric juice while taking Trecator-S antibiotic should take hydrochloric acid (hydrochloric acid), or diluted juice zheludochyy, and at high pH – antacids.
Trecator-S antibiotic should be taken with caution in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver.
Form release: tablets, coated tablets, 0.25 g per pack of 50 pieces.
Storage: List B. In dry, dark place at a temperature not higher than + 20 C.
